As COVID-19 cases rise in New York City, Gov. Andrew Cuomo reinstate the indoor dining ban starting on Monday. This is another major blow to NYC hospitality businesses that are trying to survive at 25 percent capacity. Since the pandemic has crippled many favorite eateries, restaurant owners are on the edge and now back to figuring out an alternative plan to save or permanently closed their business while entering the winter season.

Cuomo stated that restaurants and bars accounted for 1.4 percent of the spread of the virus compared to private gatherings and colleges which is a significantly higher number. While patrons have 1 more day to dine indoor, here’s a reminder on how to help your favorite eateries during these uncertain times :

Buy gift cards.

Show your favorite restaurant some luv ! Buying gift cards directly from your favorite restaurant can definitely help their business stay afloat. Since we’re in the holiday spirit, it’s the perfect Christmas stocking gift to give to a foodie! If you don’t see the option to purchase a gift card on your fave restaurant’s website, ASK THEM!

Order takeout or delivery.

Order online and inquire if they have their own delivery service. If yes, choose them instead of using a major third-party service.

Buy merch & product

Some of your favorite restaurants sell their sauces, relishes, tee-shirt, mugs online. If you’re planning to cook more at home or need a new mug to sip coffee or tea, shop their store and support!

If you are able, tip generously.

If you decide to dine over the weekend or do take out, support these restaurants by giving a generous tip. Remember these businesses also have to provide for their wellbeing and families.

Spread the word online.

If you’re unable to provide financial support to these restaurants, share your favorite place on your social media platform. Spread the word to your friends and try to support them! Sharing content online is free and all you need is 2-3 minutes of your time.

Remember to wear your mask and sanitize your hands at all times.
